Outstanding Achievements for Clonmel Club at Munster Short Course Championships

 

The Clonmel Swimming Club marked a triumphant outing at the Munster Short Course Championships, which took place at the University of Limerick Sports Arena. Over three days of intense competition, the club’s presence was strongly felt.

A contingent of 27 dedicated swimmers from Clonmel participated, tackling approximately 140 events with vigor over the weekend. Their efforts culminated in outstanding performances, with many achieving personal bests in their swims and a significant number advancing to the finals.

Praise is due for the unwavering support from the parents who cheered on the competitors at the UL Sports Arena. Moreover, the club’s coaches deserve special recognition for their tireless commitment to guiding the athletes in their preparations for the competition.

Highlighting the club’s success were the Division 2, 200 metres Mixed Medley Relay medalists: Killian Whelan, Caroline Smith, Jenna Hayes, and Garry Hanrahan. Additionally, Jenna Hayes showcased her prowess by becoming a finalist in the 50 metres Freestyle event.

The club also celebrated achievements in individual events, with Gary Hanrahan and Victoria Szyszkowska both reaching the finals in the Division 1, 200 metres Individual Medley.

The Division 2 finalists also brought their A-game, with Thomas Smith, Killian Whelan, Victoria Szyszkowska, Jenna Hayes, Lucy Brannigan, and David Killen all delivering commendable performances.

The Clonmel Swimming Club’s results at the Munster Short Course Championships are a testament to the athletes’ hard work, the coaches’ expertise, and the community’s support. This event has undoubtedly set a high bar for the club’s future endeavors.
