Munster Schools Gala

 
Our club members had a fantastic weekend of racing at the Munster Minor & Senior Schools Gala in UL last weekend, the 5th & 6th of February.  There were some really exciting individual and relay performances and the club would like to congratulate all our swimmers for representing their schools with such distinction.
A special mention to our medal winners over the weekend.
Sean Kelly U12, Powerstown NS, won silver in the 100m breaststroke.
Toby Hayes U12, Lisronagh NS, won bronze in the 100m backstroke.
Cian Trehy and Darragh Kelly, Powerstown NS, were part of the U10 200m medley relay team that won bronze.
The U12 relay team of Sean Kelly, Jerry Moynihan, Mickey English and Owen Killen, Powerstown NS, won bronze in the 200m freestyle relay and also silver in the 200m medley relay.
National qualification standard was achieved by the following;
Toby Hayes 100m backstroke and 100m butterfly
Sean Kelly 100m freestyle and 100m breaststroke
Owen Killen 100m freestyle and 100m backstroke
Jack Landy 100m freestyle
Darcy Philips 100m backstroke.
The National Irish Minor schools will take place in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin, on March 25th.
At the senior level the club was also very successful.
The relay team of David Killen, Killian Whelan, Donal Quinn and Ben Hannafin, representing the Highschool Clonmel, won silver in the 200m medley relay and our second relay team of Matthew O’Ceallaigh, Ben Hannafin, Killian Whelan and David Killen also won silver in the 200m freestyle relay. Both teams get to do it all again as they too achieved the national qualification to compete at the Irish Senior schools gala in the National Aquatic Centre, Dublin, on March 26th.
Huge congratulations to David Killen who also won bronze in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 100m backstroke.
