As announced in November 2021, due to the challenges that a number of our Performance Transition and Performance Pathway athletes faced in their access to training/racing throughout the most recent eighteen months, the decision was made that for the 2021-2022 season only, we would accept additional members onto the National Programme following the 2021 Irish National SC Championships in December.
At this event, Ireland had 26 athletes achieve the standards set, with 25 of these athletes accepting their places on the National Programme. This brings the total current number on the Programme to 60. All 60 athletes will remain as part of the programme until the completion of the 2022 Irish Open Championships in April or the 2022 FINA World Championships in May, where at one of these meets, all athletes must achieve a published time standard/s in the long course format to validate their position on the programme remain as part of it through to August 2022.
