Ellen Cassidy Memorial Gala – 29 March 2026

Clonmel Swimming Club enjoyed a very positive day of racing at the Ellen Cassidy Memorial Gala, held on 29 March 2026 at the UL Sports Arena in Clonmel. The gala was swum long course (50 m) and featured strong performances across all age groups from the Clonmel squad, with several podium finishes and encouraging improvements recorded.

Strong Performances Across the Squad
The 15–16 age group delivered some of the standout results of the day. Victoria Szyszkowska produced an excellent performance to take first place in the 200 m Butterfly, alongside multiple podium finishes across freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly events. Her swims showed consistency across longer distances as well as speed over 50 m events.

Owen Killen also impressed, claiming first place in the 50 m Freestyle and adding several strong podium finishes in the breaststroke and freestyle events. His results across sprint and middle‑distance races reflected a well‑rounded meet.

Another highlight came from Toby Hayes, who recorded second‑place finishes in the 100 m Backstroke, 200 m Butterfly and 100 m Butterfly, showing excellent form across multiple strokes.

Ethan Hanrahan added further depth to the boys’ results with podium finishes in the 50 m Backstroke and 400 m Individual Medley.

Senior and Youth Swimmers
In the 17 and‑over category, Kevin Mc Nally competed strongly across backstroke, butterfly and individual medley events, placing well in a competitive age group.

The younger swimmers also gained valuable long‑course racing experience. Zoe Noctor, Lilly Carew, Libby Ryan, Sarah Kehoe, Lucy O’Mahony, Cian Ryan and Sean Kelly all represented the club across a wide range of events, contributing to a strong overall team presence and continuing their development at gala level.

Positive Signs Moving Forward
Overall, the Ellen Cassidy Memorial Gala provided a very encouraging set of results for Clonmel Swimming Club.

With multiple podium finishes, solid points scoring and a number of swims close to best times, the meet offered a strong platform to build on as the season progresses.
